You only get one shot with watercolor so it is good practice to create conceptual sketches before proceeding to full scale painting. If you make a mistake with oils or acrylics you can make do and mend - and get away with it more times than not. Not so with watercolor; if you don't get it right first time it's back to the drawing board. Throughout these pages you will find examples of my own conceptual watercolor sketches which are almost as popular with customers as the finished paintings. And of course, they are less expensive.
